DRIVER’S EDUCATION 2008

The Driver Education Program offered by Denham Springs High School and Livingston

Parish is a summer program.  It consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and  6 hours of driving and 6 hours of observation in the car.  One-half (2) credit will be earned for driver education.  Students must be 15 years old by July 1, 2008.

The cost of Driver Education will be $200.00.  Students may pay the entire amount or they may pay a $50.00 deposit. If you cancel before class starts, we will refund $50.00. After class starts we will refund $40.00. If you move to the later class and don’t attend, we will only refund $25.00. Students making a deposit must pay the other $150.00 during the first day of classroom instruction.  Students or parents must pay Coach LaPrarie in the Jacket Gym.  Freshman will pay Mr. Magee at Denham Springs Freshman High during recess   .   

ALL CHECKS SHOULD BE MADE PAYABLE TO DENHAM SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL!

Classroom sessions are as follows:

  I.   April 28 through May 9 – 3:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M

 II.   May 27 through June 6 - 7 A.M. to 10 A.M.  (Class will meet Sat, May 31.)  

III.  May 27 through June 6 - 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. (Class will meet Sat, May 31.)  

*** SESSION I WILL REPORT TO THE DSHS COMMONS AREA ON APRIL 28.  SESSION II and III WILL REPORT TO THE DSHS COMMONS AREA ON MAY 27 AT THEIR ASSIGNED CLASS TIME.

Enrollment will begin on April 14 on  a first-come-first-serve basis.    Session I will be limited to 70 students.   

***We will post lists of classroom assignments at both schools prior to the week of the session.  Students must check these lists to determine where and when to report for the first day of classroom instruction. Announcements will be made about what to bring for class.  We will not call you or contact you in any other way!  If you sign up for the 7:00 class and don’t show up on time, you will be moved to 10:00!  Driving times will be assigned during the classroom session. We will try to accommodate most student’s needs, but remember there is limited seating in a car and all students cannot drive at the same time, so be sure your summer schedule accommodates Driver’s Ed.  Please remember classroom hours -30 total - are mandated by state law and cannot be missed.  You must attend 30 classroom hours AND drive 6 hours to complete the course.

You  will need to pick up a driver’s handbook from the Office of Motor Vehicles.
